Online shopping just got SO MUCH BETTER! After commenting on someone’s handbag, I was directed to this site. Freitag is a Swiss company making bags out of recycled truck tarpaulins. So they are bright and extremely hard wearing. You can buy them in shops OR you can design your own bag on-line. They have this neat little program that shows you a photo of the tarp (there are 12 to choose from) and you drag the shapes the bag is made from onto the tarp and it instantly shows you an image of what your bag will look like!
This is a neat blog where people send in photos of old record album covers that are put over various body parts to create an illusion… here is an example…
Just came across this site called popurls.com. What a fantastic site. It basically lists the headline posts of all the current most popular web2.0 sites like delicious, youtube, reddit, digg plus heaps and heaps more. I really encourage you to go and have a look… just make sure that you have plenty of time! Really interesting to see the titles that make it to the top of a number of really popular sites!
I know that this isn’t particularly wow because of the technology - it’s only You Tube - but regular readers of my blog will know that I am a teacher… and I am wondering if we could do this with our student… Not really! Actually, previously I posted about Samsung’s mass co-ordination effort getting heaps and heaps of people doing an amazing co-ordinated dance/advertisement/display and someone just commented on it. It reminded me about the prison in the Philippines who have all 1500+ of their inmates dancing these amazing co-ordinated dances. It has been around for a long time and is nothing new - the original Thriller dance (below) has had over 7 million views - but I thought I would post it anyway. Check out You Tube - there are plenty more of them - all different dances… Obviously there are huge ethical issues with this and I guess to some extent that is what this blog explores - an awareness of New Media and the potential that it has…
I know this is supposed to be a site about the latest games, gimmicks and fads on the internet, but I just had to post this. I guess my point by putting it on here is that this is something that I think is truly unbelievable - and yet it is real, it is actually happening in the world - and the web lets us experience events such as this.
So without any more chit-chat - this is a swimming pool in Japan.
What do you think??? I think, only in Asia. It is AMAZING that so many people know what to do and can get their act together to all do it at the SAME time…
I haven’t even had a good look around yet but the talks that I have seen are brilliant. They truly are inspirational and I will post back again about some specific ones that I have enjoyed. However, in the mean time have a look around and leave a comment if you find a talk that you think I should watch and post about.
If you haven’t been there, you MUST go. You Tube is the epitome of web2.0. It hosts your material and anyone who wants to can comment and have their comments published for anyone in the world to see.
Go and search around You Tube. Check out the groups section to see interaction at its best!
If you want to know the best video on You Tube. Check out this one. It has been viewed nearly 50,000,000 times. Yes, he is now very, very famous!
You can also check out my friend’s cat. I call it Climbing Fat Cat - she climbs a ladder like a person which I find hilarious!
So, my new cellphone has a 2 megapixel camera and the image is twice the size of my laptop screen… Fancy still cameras might have a 6 megapixel camera. This image a gigapixel photo - so what does that mean… you can zoom, and zoom, and zoom with out losing detail. You will have to go to the actual site here to get the full effect of the zoomability!
